This operation will be conducted on behalf the Animal Health Board to maintain low possum densitites and progress towards eradication of Bovine Tuberculosis (TB) from wildlife and livestock in this area Description of Areas The 12,000ha operation is made up of four bush blocks.The operation includes the portion of the Erua Conservation Area north of the Manganuiteao River. The Pairawahipi Scenic Reserve, Riariaki Conservation Area and some private contiguous bush will also be treated as well as the Retaruke Scenic Reserve and some contiguous private bush. Aerial Control Method Cereal baits containing the pesticide will be applied by helicopter. The pellets are cylindrical and approximately 20mm in diameter, dyed green and cinnamon lured. This pesticide is poisonous. Always remember: • DO NOT touch bait. • WATCH children at all times. • DO NOT EAT animals from this area. • DO NOT allow DOGS access to animal carcasses. Observe these rules whenever you see warning signs. The public is also warned to be aware that toxic carcasses may be found outside the immediate treatment area. Keep dogs under strict supervision at all times. This will include facilitation of maara kai workshops, growing gardens, cooking workshops, ki -o-rahi, waka ama, gym sessions and other health promotion type activities.
